Another Castrillo's masterpiece

Eduardo Castrillo, an award-winning Filipino sculptor is now working on his biggest masterpiece ever. It is a marian statue that will soon rise in Batangas. The shrine would stand 110 meters. The sculpture itself (the statue of Mary) is 92.9 meters. Eduardo says that this would be taller than the statue of Liberty in New York.

He is using metal as medium in this sculpture, like his other works. He's using brass for the head, hands and feet while stainless steel for the body. This masterpiece is being created in honor of "Mary, Mother of Poor".

According to Castrillo, this marian statue is really a challenge for him.
“Although I have done large sculptures, I haven’t done something as big as this", “What a challenge!”

Castrillo hopes to finish this shrine in four years. This structure will make us more proud to be a Filipino.
